Aldo Paparella Italaina born Artist lived in Buenos Airs, Argentina.

Aldo Paparella was a fantastic painter, drawer and sculpture maker who was
born in Minturno- Latina, Italy in 1920. His first approach to a formal
artistic education was in Rome under the guidance of the famous painter
Antonucci. Among his first known works we were surprised to find some
decorative -yet unknown- skills as well as some interesting work in Churches
restoration. The 30s were difficult years for all Italians, and more
specifically to brilliant developing ones as Aldo. He had to serve to his
nation in Northern Africa for a couple of years, but he was soon captured by
the French and made prisoner. He spent three long and torturing years in a
French prisoner camp; this experience would leave deep and irremovable marks
that would latter be found on his works.

Those were difficult days for Paparella, but he managed to survive not only
in the outside, but more specifically in the inside.

He left his motherland and the old continent heading to South America,
looking for a better place in which to resettle. He arrived to Buenso Aires
early in 1950, and soon he picks upon his artistic skills that had been so
"in the air" for him during his young adult years, when his innocence had
not yet been compelled in a battle field.

By August that same year he was already participating of local art shows. In
1955 he began to work together with a group known as the Asociacion Arte
Nuevo -New art Asociation-. The abstraction and lyrical productions were
growing within Aldo Paparella's works.

Soon what would stand upon would be his sculptures and his un-formalism
poetics.

Experts agree to say that it was from then on, that his works began to
evidence a broad rainbow of variations, changes, ruptures and searches.

Hi "Useless moments" (Momentos inutiles) exhibition held during 1971 is
indeed one of the most mature and definite collections made by Paparella.
Working upon poor materials such as carton, wood, cloth, chalk and glue, he
recreated a feel of monumental ruin that resembled the Roman Antiquity. Some
art critics agree to recognize in those tool elements Paparella's find.
these were a mean through which he could portray his discourse on the
contemporary man.

On September 1976 his last individual sculpture exhibition took place. Un
cuarto de retrospective (A quarter or a room of retrospective), was his
final show. He died on January 31 1977, at only 56 years of age.

The world of art had lost a mastermind.

Hi son, Juan, was just 12 at that time. With time he grew up to face the
challenge of taking upon the artistic inheritance line of the family, and
developed as a wonderful artist himself, nowadays living in Brussels.
