Wine Rally of Mendoza
Topic: Rally Classic Car Tour
Wine Rally of Mendoza organized by Mendoza Clasics club, Porsche Club Argentina and Palmares Open Mall takes place on the first week of March at the Mendoza Hyatt Hotel. However this year the rally was postponed to the 16th, 17th and 18th of March due to security measured taken by the local government on ocation of the visit of South American presidents Lula, Chavez and Kirchner to the province of Mendoza.

Awesome success: 4th edition of the annual Wineries Rally in Argentina

This rally has become a Mendoza classic for Sports and Classic car collectors from around the globe. The perfect complement of pleasure and luxury is the breathtaking landscape and the delightful wine tasting and delicatessens offered throughout the journey.

Running throughout 500 kilometers of amazing sights and natural paradises, the 150 participants enjoyed 3 days of tests, endurance trials and everlasting memories of a lifetime experience that’s began to interest notorious car collectors from around the globe.

This event was declared of cultural interest by the provincial and national government, due to its rich cultural and social importance.
Porsche, Jaguar, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Ferrari classic and Sports cars were among the selected list of participants. The winner, a 1936 Riley Sprite that celebrated its glorious 70 years rolling thru the magical routs of the world.

The 150 glamorous drivers competing to win the Park Hyatt cup began their journey on March 17th at the hotel’s main gate. They had received their pilot and copilot driver’s licenses, maps and insight info the day before at the Palmares Open Mall.
A welcome cocktail was the perfect excuse for meeting the other contestants, celebrating the beginning of a wonderful adventure and relaxing before the test began.

There were 5 top notch wineries to enjoy and discover throughout the whole journey. The first one was Nieto Senetiner. Next, after a gourmet lunch, it was the turn of Norton. A good night sleep at the Regency Casino hotel would prepare the competitors for another day of discovery and sophisticated adventure, as they head to Tapiz winery in Lujan de Cuyo. A test drive throughout the vineyards, then leads to the road throughout the road of the low mountains to Catena Zapata winery for a delightful lunch.

The Wineries rally comes to its end… A camaraderie dinner and prize ceremony round up this wonderful event, where new friends, new life experiences and the treasure of having discovered an amazing land aboard our classic and sports car together with promises of future meetings to prepare the following Winery Rally are the best prize of all.

The Argentine Classic and Sports car scene .......
Topic: Rally Classic Car Tour
Our Rally New’s in Argentina.

The Argentine Classic and Sports car scene is at its plenitude, and all seems to show that there's not a limit to what can be done in this matter.
Outstanding classic rallies through the Upper North side of Buenos Aires in a journey of luxury and sophistication, adventurous racing thru the ajestic
Salta mountains aboard vintage Citroen 2CV, 500 miles rally in Bariloche, surrounded by the enchanted Swiss-like sights of the Argentine patagonia landscape.

The options for classic and sports car during the month of November are stupendous.

Recoleta-Tigre Grand Prix is the only FIVA competition that takes place in the heart of the city of Buenos Aires. This year's ninth edition celebrates also the 40th anniversary of the Classic and Sports Car club of Argentina.

Driving through the beautiful Libertador Avenue side by side the River Plate
and the most beautiful sights of the city of Tango, the finest automobiles
and motorcycles produced prior to 1918 will run this amazing rally.

The opening ceremony to the event was a true cultural event of the highest
class, featuring an exhibition show that celebrated the greatness of these
antique gems of the mechanics, a wonderful tango show, and a marvellous open
air concert held by an Argentine Philharmonic Orchestra was the perfect
first day finale.

On the second day, the Grand Prix began punctually at 10:30 at the
intersection of Quintana Av. and Ortiz St. The gorgeous and luxury caravan
then headed to the Northern district of Tigre thru Libertador Av, driving
under the bright blue sky and the subtle shade provided by an endless list
of flowery and scented ancient trees that create a Fairy tale environment,
the pilots arrived at noon to Tigre were the award ceremony took place after
a wonderful confraternity lunch.

The 500 Southern Miles- Bariloche

Bariloche, in the Argentine Patagonia region will host the annual 500
southern miles event this upcoming weekend.

Driving thru some of the world's most beautiful natural and unspoiled
scenarios, the participant drivers would enjoy amazing views and landscapes
aboard their Sports cars from 1927 on, and with over 20 years of antiquity.

Among the enlisted models we know that Ford Thunderbird (1956), Chevrolet
Corvette (1960), Jaguar xk 140 (1957), Ford Cobra 427 (1966), Jaguar E-Type
(1967), Mini Cooper (1979), Jaguar MK2 (1960), Austin Healey (1961),
Corvette (1970), Porsche 911 (1971) will be participating of the event.

For two wonderful days the region of Bariloche and the Southern Lakes will
enjoy the presence of these mechanical beauties, running and roaring. for an
extra day of testing there will be open air exhibitions and a series of
wonderful events for locals, visitors and friends of the competitors who
join them from outside.

From the southern Patagonia lands to the colourful North West Region of
Altitude Valleys and Quebradas, we head off to the other fantastic antique
car event, taking place currently in the Province of Salta. Over 50 Citroen
2CV were brought specifically from France to take part in this wonderful and
adventurous event.

The Raid Andino is a fabulous event that takes place throughout nearly 2,500
km of rocky -mountains in the border area between Argentina, Chile and
Bolivia. Amazing landscapes, wild and fantastic fauna and the extra spice
provided by the difficult road are the recipe for a lifetime experience that
this year's drivers and competitors will never forget.

After reviewing the variety of outstanding events taking place this week in
the Argentine Republic for classic and sports car lovers, we can take the
grasp of the intensity within the local scene for these sorts of events that
not only interest local sports and classic car proud owners, but fans from
all over the world who take great pleasure in life's best treats and gifts,
such as the amazing scenes, the wonderful people, and the joy of driving
such amazing vehicles.

We invite all those interested in these sorts of events and special getaways to check our Rally Car Club project and welcome all insights and thoughts on the matter! Please don't hesitate to contact us upon any question or request.

Welcome all Car Drivers.
Topic: Rally Classic Car Tour

If collecting is the hobby par-excellence of the 20th century, the passion for cars is the passion par-excellence of the century of the industry and the technology. And the blend of both of them is just mind blowing. Putting together such great passions into a greater world is exiting and amazing. This merge takes place all over the world and it can be witnessed in privileged reunions such as Classic and Sports rallies. When these events take place, passionate owners, patient restorers who work on these beauties as neurosurgeons do on people’s brains, who care for them as if they were newly born children made out of crystal, unveil the mystery of their passion while presenting their Classic in society. The full smile that populates the most of their face is a true indication of how much do these women and men love their classics and sports and in how many ways these are a mechanical reflection of their passion and personality.

People of all social standards, ideologies and styles find no impediment whatsoever to gather together in car clubs and share the only thing they have in common, their passion for cars. Most of the clubs are members only, to which you have to apply in order to get in. Usually the basic requirement is to own a licensed car matching the club’s theme. In some cases, the rules are stricter, and one can frequently read in forums or www sites complains about the restrictions, and elitist way to decide upon membership.

So if we look at the car lovers’ community carefully we’ll realize that love is not all you need in the world of vintage cars… Sometimes, what you need is a little help of your friends!

Even more, the issue of matter gets complicated if your passion for these wonderful antique machines is not sustained by an actual car, and an actual participation of these events as a main character and not just a mere spectator drooling upon other’s vehicles, day dreaming about the chance of owning one yourself and driving it in the endless list of rallies that take place all over the world in exotic paradise like locations, from Ushuaia-Argentina, to the ancient roads of Tunisia.

Wouldn’t it be fantastic to have the opportunity of a lifetime aboard one of those wonderful classic and sports vehicle, even if we don’t have the money or the time to take care –they way it’s needed- of one of those gem mechanical beauties?

Plus, just having a classic or sports car isn’t enough to tour the world aboard one, for there’s a lot of work, time and paperwork involved in the transportation of the vehicle to the rally location.

But if all, world wide sports and classic cars fans got together in a world wide rally car this would be millions’ dream come true.

All and all, it’s just an idea,.............

Tornino Argentina

Tornino Argentina is the strongest vehicle trademark ever to be conceived in a mainly foreign provided market. The American and European aesthetic concepts were very strong in the automobile industry. All in all, there were several local adaptations and models, but none conquered as much as the Torino the Argentine heart, especially after the initial 1960s golden years.

The local and internationally famous IKA industries, after years of success, embarked in a joint venture with the French Giant, Renault. IKA-Renault, the best of the American and the French cars, began to work on a plan to revitalize the Argentine market. The idea was to replace the original Rambler for a more Latino-feel version. An agreement with American Motors was the starting point; the Rambler American Rouge was the ground foundation upon the Argentine bull of cars was to be designed. Pininfarina was the man behind the concept that brought Torino into life, altering the original front and interior.

Torino, is the Spanish-Italianized name for the (toro) young bull car, a humorous joint point for the Ferrari cavallino rampante- Prancing Horse- and the Lamborghini strong and angry bull.

Among the many model variations available of Torino, the TS Coupe model was –from our point of view- the king. It featured a 3770cc engine motor, a two mouth Holley carburetor, 4 gear ZF velocity box, disk front breaks and drum ones on the back, and a 8:1 compression reaction.

See Torino IKA Photo Image Gallery:

Link to Photo Album Torino Car designed in Argentina

These are the cars we have chosen so far. Of course, as every time one makes a choice there are several sentimental, historical and cultural values that pitch in our decision making. In the case of the Fiat cars, I must recall our readers upon my English-Italian roots. I was brought up in England, but raised in an Italian like family. My dad, a loving and bright man, was a true Latin Italian, and among his great passions were cars… Fiat Milecento, 1100, was his first car ever, and I behold lovely memories of the feel of the wind hitting my face wile driving thru the Argentine roads. Comfortable and spacious, yet medium sized and stylish, Fiat cars are a great type of car.

Regarding the American style vehicles included in the list… well, what can I say… who would refuse to a ride in those huge boats looking cars… it’s like you’re driving in your living room…

What’s important in this case is that the list is simply to indicate a number of possibilities, and in no case it’s closed or final. So to all interested readers, we say: feel free to contact us to share your thoughts and impressions on this project, to let us know about your interests and wish lists. This is a club in which anyone who wishes to take part in is a member!

Topic: Rally Classic Car Tour
The ArtDEaler Rally Club.

So far we’ve presented our project for a Rally car Club of Art Dealer. What we’ve done is to put into words, ideas and images that have been turning in our head for a long time now. Because our readers’ and friends’ opinion maters greatly to us, we have placed as follows the reactions our project has had on our friends.

This is a very important step to the realization of the above project, for a club without members is no club at all.

“I sent the club a wire stating, PLEASE ACCEPT MY RESIGNATION. I DON'T WANT TO BELONG TO ANY CLUB THAT WILL ACCEPT ME AS A MEMBER”, said Groucho Marx, we say: this is not a regular club, this is the club for all of us who wouldn’t be want to belong to all the others, so we created ours for everyone who wishes to enter!

Hereby you can read our friend’s inputs:

Email from Andries of South Africa said:Hi Bob,

Fantastic idea!!. We re in Uk now where a rally from london to lisbon is on. When home i will forward websites with similar but not as exciting schemes.

And this from Giuseppe of the USA....... and his email reads,"it looks like you are going full speed ahead. i like what i read on your site. is it working for you? have many people made enquiries? i like the rally concept. you should make enquiries into placing small adverts in some of the sports car magazines. "Octane" is one which is printed in england, and "Classic Cars" is another, which is also printed in england. they always have articles about rallying and racing and such.

So thank you Giuseppe!

And our friend Mike form Somerset, England said," I also got round to reading some news about your trip. I couldn’t access the site yesterday so it had to wait until today. I like the vintage car idea and hope it works well for you – great idea !

Thank you Mike!

And Dan short for Daniel also from the US, said, "I wish you the best of luck with Classic Rally Car Club. That's an
excellent idea if you can pull it off. They do similar things in
America--racing classic cars and all--however it'd be awesome to be able to
rally with people from all across South America. Keep in touch with me
about that. I'd like to know how that works out for you.

Take care,

Thank you Dan!

And from the UK, England,Olaf said; " I like your idea about 'timeshare' rally cars. There's something similar in principle in the UK targeted at high net worth individuals; city high fliers, entrepreneurs. It involves paying an annual fee to belong to a kind of Supercar Club. You get to choose from Bentleys, Mercedes 600SL, Aston Martin's, Lambo's....etc. You can own it for 6 months (all taxed, insured, serviced) and then send it back and order another car! And so on. Transferring the idea to antique vehicles and rallies seems eminently workable. There must be loads of Americans who would love the idea of dressing up complete with goggles and taking part in a reenactment of a rally. Might be a bit tough on the spare part situation but I'm sure you have that covered.

Thank you Olaf, who by the way is coming down to travel Route 40 on a 4 WD! Lucky Olaf!

So the emails go arrivng and we keep up the work.See cars from the cemetry that can be turned into a great Rally Car.........

Jeep Kaiser only from Argentina
Topic: Rally Classic Car Tour
The Artdealer 4 Wheel Drive Rally Car........

The Argentine version of the Willys Station Wagon is the worldly famous Estanciera 4WD. This vehicle together with the 1956 Jeep produced in Santa Isabel, were milestones for IKA’s production and penetration in the Argentine market. Specially designed for rural purposes, the Estanciera enters the market, an icon regarding goods delivery and long distance transport in which traditional automobile commodities and velocity converge with the dimensions requested by transportation companies for shipping the products. At the same time this outstanding vehicle was extremely suitable for the rocky Argentinean roads.

See Photo Image Gallery for a IKA Estanciera:

All and all, its prestige grew not only among the shop owners who needed a special vehicle for transportation, but also among a broader audience who filled with the emotion provided by the adventurous spirit wanted to discover with their own means the land of beauty that is Argentina. Estanciera 4WD was conceived as a solid and powerful vehicle, the strong ground structure upon it was developed made of it the first –and for a long time only- nationally produced 4wd. But as time passed, and internationally based companies approached the Argentine market, the Estanciera remained as a powerful soul in the pantheon of adventure vehicles.

We take upon the legacy and invite our readers to imagine the wonderful feeling of touring the adventurous Argentine routs aboard a classic 4WD. When in England, tour aboard a Land Rover, when in Argentina, do what classy Argentines do, tour aboard an IKA Estanciera.

See some photo images of what Argentina has to offer on the matter of off road 4 WD countryside…….
