According to the modern times we live in our vocabulary is growing and expanding after the need of referring to new social standards and ways of living. Such is the case of the new social type of bourgeois bohemian, referring to people who combine affluence and a successful career with a preference for countercultural ideas and artifacts. The shortened form BOBO -also Spanish for fool- was invented by journalist David Brooks, as a mean through which describe this species in a more positive (although still often comical) light in his book Bobos in Paradise: The New Upper Class and How They Got There (Simon & Schuster, May 2000). Brooks also used the term in an April 3, 2000 Newsweek article titled, "Why Bobos Rule."
